Requiem for a client and a friend

I discovered recently that a client who I had known for several years had died. She had come to me looking to rebuild her self confidence and connection with her body after winning the battle with cancer. In that time we got to know each other quite well and shared many an evening talking about life, the universe, and everything over dinner in low key restaurants, or sitting on her couch looking out at the night time view of Sydney.

I didn’t hear at the time that she had died, but why would I? My part in her life was private and her family of course knew nothing about me. So I didn’t have an opportunity to say goodbye in the conventional way through a funeral or memorial service.

So I suppose that this post my opportunity to do that.

I will miss your smile and wicked humour. I will miss your enthusiasm and passion for everything you did. I will miss the long conversations on topics that pushed my intellect and morality. It was always fun and it was always educational spending time with you.

Farewell to you my lover. Farewell to your fierce intellect and talent. Farewell to your generosity. Farewell to your laughter and your sense of humour.

Farewell to my friend.

John
