While browsing the analytics for my website I made a completely unexpected discovery today. The country with the third highest number of “impressions” in web searches about male sex workers for women that displayed a link to this website is Russia (after Australia and the US).

That was a surprise to me. Also surprising was the zero click throughs – 829 impressions in the last month, but zero click throughs. I don’t know how many Russians read English so that’s a barrier, but google translate is a thing so…

A little googling of my own reveals (unsurprisingly) that while sex work is illegal in Russia, there is a significant industry, so perhaps there are enough male workers for women in Russia already. Or perhaps we are just worlds apart – physically and metaphorically – and Australian men aren’t to the taste of Russian women? Who can say.
